議論の目的は、相手を言い負かすことではない。ワガママを押し通すことでもない。お互いの知識を出しあって、間違いを指摘しあい、正しい意見を受け入れて、まだ見ぬ「真実」に到達することだ。それが議論をすることの意義だ。
つまり「議論に強い人」とは、相手を論破できる人のことではない。もちろん論破しても構わないんだけど、大事なのはその後、その後。お互いの利害関係を整理して、双方の納得できる最適解を見つけ出せる人。それが真の意味で「議論に強い人」である。 議論に強い人には、三つの資質がある。
１．好奇心があること
２．感情的にならないこと
３．どんな人の意見も等しく尊重できること
要するに一言でいえば「大人になれ」ってことなのだろう。ずぅっと子供でいたいピーターパン症候群患者の私だけど、こういう部分だけは大人でありたいな。
